Literacy superstar Carol Jago visited MESD today to speak to a group of 45 grade 6-12 instructional coaches and teachers as part of our Secondary Literacy Coaches' Network.
Carol is associate director of the California Reading and Literature Project at UCLA and author of many professional books on teaching and learning in the literacy classroom. This free presentation for educators is made possible through our partnership with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

The MESD School Improvement Program11/12/2015 ![]() The MESD School Improvement Program hosts Secondary Literacy Coaches' Network meetings three times a year for grade 6-12 instructional coaches throughout the tri-county region. At our January 12th gathering, participants discussed hot topics in literacy instruction, discovered new digital tools, and learned nonfiction reading strategies. Penny Plavala, School Improvement Specialist, creates an engaging agenda with the help of Network members, shares new instructional resources, and highlights upcoming professional development events.
